How Central Daylight Time (CDT) works
Central Daylight Time is the daylight-saving variant of the U.S. Central time zone. It runs UTC −5:00 and is used from the second Sunday in March through the first Sunday in November.
CDT covers a huge chunk of the United States — Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska — plus major cities like Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Austin, New Orleans and Minneapolis.
CDT is also used in central parts of Mexico (where it is called Tiempo del Centro) and a handful of Central American countries during their summer DST observance.
